GoodCRM Terminology

Key concepts and terminology

To help you through this training, we’ve listed some of the GoodCRM specific terms we might use here. If anything is ever unclear, you can always reach out to our team.

Records: The Records section of GoodCRM contains all of your Record forms, and the responses to these forms. Each individual response is a Record. One record form might have many records within it. An individual record can be connected to a Person, Organisation, Event, Project and Programme through Connection fields.

Connection field:  Connection fields are a type of field in the CRM. Some of these Connections will come pre-configured in your CRM. Admin users can add more using custom fields. Connection fields connect two things together. This might be the same kind of data (a connection field on a Person’s profile which connects to another Person) or two different kinds of data (a connection field on a Person’s profile which connects to an Organisation).

Person: An individual contact profile in the CRM.

Organisation: An individual organisation profile in the CRM. Many people can be connected to an Organisation through the Organisation connection field on their profiles. This is a core field (one which comes pre-configured in your CRM).
Campaign: Donations and grant income must be assigned to a fundraising campaign. Campaigns can be connected to a programme, project and/or event that they relate to.
